St Bartholomew Church. London

Heralded as the most haunted church in London. The Norman church is situated in Smithfield, near to a site where hundreds of people had been executed.

Tortured cries have been heard in the church and are thought to be the ghostly cries of a priest who was burnt alive in an iron cage during the reign of Henry VIII. A twelfth century monk called Rahere also haunts the area around his tomb.

Loves a good ghost story, especially whilst sat in front of an open log fire on a cold and dark winters night.

i felt a nasty presecence when visiting this church .made me get a bad headache and a panicky feeling this was in the part known as the NARTHEX and near to the priors parlour..just before going through the arch to where the blacksmith had his forge.i walked around the rst of the church with my brother and we noticed a few cold spots ,but on returning to the same spot just behind the organ ,the same feeling was felt… my brother said it was a bit cold ,but i felt a presence ,the feeling came from the floor up.would like to know if anyone else felt anything. also i kept having a dream where i visited this church when the outside was a flat area ,ie; no raised graveyard…another life/another time maybe..

Got something to say? Go for it!
