Garrick’s Head Pub. Bath

The pub is situated near the Theatre Royal, and was once the gaming house of Beau Nash.

The pub is situated near the Theatre Royal, and was once the gaming house of Beau Nash.

It is haunted by a number of ghosts, a shadowy figure that lurks by the entrance, and a Grey Lady.  She haunts the pub and the theatre. In life the lady supposedly fell in love with an actor who her husband then killed in a duel. Upon her lovers death she either hung herself or jumped from a high window to her death. The Grey Lady is seen frequently when the temperature drops suddenly without reason, which is followedby the smell of Jasmine.

Loves a good ghost story, especially whilst sat in front of an open log fire on a cold and dark winters night.

I was present when the till was thrown across the bar. I was working at the Garricks, about 1996 we had just finished clearing up for the evening and were sat at the bar having a drink. I have heard this reported that it happened in front of patroms, but if was after closing There was an almighty crash and the till in the next door bar which was lodged in a tight space had been thrown 3 -4 ft landing barside.

Got something to say? Go for it!
