This pub is remote and inaccessible – situated at the end of a bumpy track.
The story goes that on a snowy Christmas Eve when the Landlord had gone to bed. He heard a banging at the door, but ignored it and shouted that he was in bed and would not get up ‘for man or devil’. In the morning the Landlord awoke to find a corpse in the doorstep covered in snow. It was the body of a shipwrecked sailor who had struggled through the wintry night in soaking wet clothes, and had come to the pub in search of help. The ghost of the sailor haunts the pub, and a strong smell of decay can often be smelt before his spirit manifests.
