A strange and eerie presence can be felt in the stalls, and the sound of ghostly foot steps can be heard in one office. The office is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former wardrobe master who died in the room one evening unexpectedly.

Robin Furman was met by the presence of a ghost nun at his old house in Grimsby, known locally as Nun’s Corner.

“I reached the top of the stairs and there she was: a tall nun. I could see her quite clearly and she looked completely real. It was only when I saw her face that I realized she wasn’t real … because she hadn’t got one. In its place was a glowing light. I was absolutely amazed, of course. She was wearing an old-fashioned head-dress, whereas modern nuns have flat head-dresses. Then she drifted away and was gone. It all happened so quickly that I didn’t have time to be scared.”

Cistercian Monks arrived at Beaulieu Abbey from France in 1204. Quite a few different sightings in recent years of ghostly monks are evidence that many of monks have refused to leave Beaulieu even after death.

Lord Montagu inherited the Abbey in 1951 has said “There is nothing sinister about it, they are just here. Most people living in the area accept it without question and don’t appear to find it in the least bit unusual.’ Continue reading →

The bypass near Stockbridge is haunted by a ghost that jumps into cars.

The bypass near Stockbridge is haunted by a ghost that jumps into cars. He has caused a number of accidents and crashes on this stretch of road resulting in at least eight deaths and eighteen seriously hurt.

Its been described as the Killer Road in recent years. Originally part of the aborted M67 Trans Pennine Motorway, it was downgraded to a dual carriageway and then to its present format of a single carriageway with crawler lanes.

A 16th Century ghost of a court Jester haunts this castle.

A 16th Century ghost of a court Jester haunts this castle.

Known as ‘Puck’, he fell in love with Lady Elenora Fitzgerald who was imprisoned at the Castle by Henry VIII. One snowy night in December the Jester was found stabbed through the heart near the castle walls. In 1976 the ghostly Jester was seen and photographs exist showing his spirit.
