This stretch of road in Somerset was reputedly haunted in the 1970s by a man (approx 35) dressed in a check jacket and flannel trousers.

The ghost of a tealady who used to work in the buffet, has been encountered at Yeovil Station.
The woman named Molly died on the station platform in the 1960s, but she loved the station so much she now haunts it in spirit form. Although never seen, some of Molly’s tricks are swapping cutlery around and turning things on and off. However when asked to stop her mischief, she does so.
The battle between one ‘rebel army’ led by James, Duke of Monmouth and the other ‘royal army’ led by Lord Faversham, took place on the 6th July 1685.
The ‘Royal army’ prevailed and even ruthlessly slaughtered wounded soldiers on the other side who survived the skirmish. Monmouth was captured 2 days after the clash and executed in London. Ghosts of horsemen have been seen galloping over the battleground. Disembodied voices are heard and the ghostly figure of Monmouth is said to reinact his attempted escape every year.
The A38 Willand to Taunton Road is the haunt of a bedraggled figure, who wears a long grey overcoat. In 1970 Mrs Kathy Swithenbank swerved her car to avoid the hitchhiker.
Others have had similar experiences with the figure, these include a lorry driver who thought he had run a man down and a motorcyclist who broke his leg as a result of crashing to avoid the figure.
